How to Get to Epupa Falls #
Epupa Falls is in very remote north‑western Namibia on the Kunene River at the Angola border and is reached by unpaved roads; a high‑clearance 4×4 is recommended. The usual starting point is Opuwo (the regional service centre), from which travel is along rough gravel roads north toward the Kunene-expect several hours of driving on remote, often corrugated roads.
The falls themselves are accessed from the small Epupa settlement/camps near the river; there is basic local infrastructure at the falls but no public transit-arrange a 4×4 transfer or an organized tour from Opuwo or regional lodges.
Tips for Visiting Epupa Falls #
- Plan for either the high-flow season (late wet season) if you want the fullest waterfalls, or the dry season for easier road access-road conditions to Epupa are rough and often require a 4x4, so plan travel time accordingly.
