Engelsberg Ironworks

Engelsberg Ironworks is a well-preserved industrial heritage site in Västmanland County that represents historic Swedish iron production from the 17th through the 19th centuries. The site includes a blast-furnace complex, forges, storage buildings and the ironmaster’s residence, all surviving as a coherent estate.

Visitors can observe the arrangement of industrial and residential buildings that supported iron smelting and forging, and the site is valued for the technical evidence it preserves of pre-industrial and early industrial metallurgy.
