Elkwater, Alberta

Elkwater is a small community and recreation centre in southeastern Alberta situated on the shore of Elkwater Lake within Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park.

The settlement functions as the main service point for visitors to the park, concentrating campgrounds, accommodations, trailheads, boat launches, and interpretive facilities around the lake.

The surrounding Cypress Hills are a high-elevation plateau with mixed forest and grassland, and the area is used for hiking, boating, fishing, and year-round outdoor recreation.

Elkwater lies within Cypress County in the Cypress Hills region of southeastern Alberta; it is the principal lakeside community inside the Alberta portion of the interprovincial park.
