Ebrach Abbey

Ebrach Abbey is a former Cistercian monastery in the market town of Ebrach in Bavaria, Germany, originally established in 1127.

The site comprises an abbey church and monastic buildings that display a mix of medieval structural work and later Baroque interior and decorative phases. The complex today is notable for its architectural layers and for being a visible historical centre in the town of Ebrach.

Founded in the early 12th century as a Cistercian house, the abbey was an important regional monastery until it was dissolved during Bavarian secularisation in the early 19th century; subsequent uses altered parts of the complex while key buildings survive and have been restored.
