How to Get to Łeba#
Łeba is a seaside town on the Pomeranian coast best reached from Gdańsk (GDN) by a train to Lębork plus a local bus, or by direct seasonal buses in summer. Plan ahead in high season when services are busiest.
Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN): Gdańsk is the main international airport for the Pomeranian coast. From GDN you can travel to Łeba by a combination of train and bus (typically Gdańsk → Lębork by train, then bus to Łeba) in about 2-2.5 hours; combined fares are commonly 25-60 PLN (€6-€14) depending on service and connections. A direct airport coach plus bus combinations are also available in summer.
Słupsk / Koszalin (regional airports): Regional airports at Słupsk and Koszalin have limited scheduled service and seasonal flights; they may offer shorter drives to Łeba but services are inconsistent. Most international visitors use Gdańsk (GDN).
Train: There is no direct long-distance rail service to Łeba; the usual rail route is to Lębork (Lębork station) from Gdańsk or Gdynia and then transfer to a local bus to Łeba. The train leg to Lębork takes about 45-70 minutes from Gdańsk; the bus from Lębork to Łeba adds roughly 30-45 minutes.
Bus: Direct intercity and seasonal buses run to Łeba from larger Pomeranian towns and from Gdańsk, especially in summer; journey times depend on origin but are generally 1.5-3 hours from regional hubs. Fares are modest and higher in peak season.
How to Get Around Łeba#
Łeba is best reached by train to Lębork then bus, or by direct seasonal buses from Gdańsk and other coastal towns. For full flexibility (and to reach dune areas), rent a car; otherwise local buses and walking suffice for the town.
- Train to Lębork + bus (25-60 PLN) - The standard public-transport route is train to Lębork and then a local bus to Łeba. Trains from Gdańsk to Lębork are frequent and reliable; the final bus leg takes about 30-45 minutes. This combination balances speed and cost and is the usual approach for most visitors.
- Direct / seasonal bus (15-50 PLN) - In summer there are more direct intercity and seasonal buses to Łeba from Gdańsk, Słupsk and other coastal towns. These can be more convenient for luggage and arrive closer to the resort; book early in peak season.
- Taxi / private transfer (~PLN 200+ (varies with distance)) - Taxis from Gdańsk or the airport offer door-to-door convenience and shorten travel time but are considerably more expensive than bus/train combinations; expect higher fares especially for longer distances or late-night runs.
- Car rental (€25-€60/day) - Renting a car gives freedom to visit moving dunes and nearby attractions; parking in Łeba is generally available but can be busy in summer. Roads to the coast are good and well signposted.
- Walking - Łeba’s resort centre, beaches and main promenade are compact and best explored on foot. Walking is the most enjoyable way to move around the town itself.
