About Eagle Mountain (Minnesota)#
Eagle Mountain is the highest natural point in the U.S. state of Minnesota, reaching 2,301 feet (701 metres) above sea level.
Hikers use a marked trail that leads through boreal and mixed forest to reach the summit; the summit area offers upland forest views rather than expansive alpine panoramas. The site is a modest day-hike destination and is primarily visited for its status as the state’s high point.
The mountain is a natural high point within the Misquah Hills and has no recorded history of major construction or human modification; it is noted chiefly for its geographic high-point status.
Located in northeastern Minnesota’s Cook County within the Superior National Forest, the peak lies in the state’s remote, lake-and-forest landscape in the Lake Superior region.
- Elevation: Sits at an elevation of 2,301 feet (701 metres), the highest natural point in the state of Minnesota.
- Access: Located inside the Superior National Forest on the Misquah Hills, reached via marked hiking trails rather than a road to the summit.
