Dunvegan Castle

Dunvegan Castle is a historic castle on the Isle of Skye that has served as the ancestral seat of Clan MacLeod for many centuries and remains occupied by the family. The structure includes an older tower house and later domestic and defensive additions arranged around internal rooms and display spaces.

The castle houses clan artifacts and heirlooms, the most famous being the so-called Fairy Flag and other items displayed to visitors in designated rooms. Grounds include formal walled gardens on the shore of Loch Dunvegan and immediate coastal views.

The castle sits on the northwestern shore of Loch Dunvegan on Skye and is accessed via local roads from the island’s principal settlements; it functions both as a private residence and a managed visitor site.
