Dubai Mall is a vast shopping and entertainment complex in Downtown Dubai, United Arab Emirates, opened in 2008 and located next to the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain.
The mall contains over a thousand retail outlets, extensive dining areas and major attractions including a large indoor aquarium with a tunnel, an Olympic-size ice rink, and themed shopping precincts such as a luxury fashion avenue. Its size and connectivity to Downtown Dubai make it a major retail and leisure destination.
Developed as part of the Downtown Dubai project in the 2000s, the mall was built to combine large-scale retail, leisure attractions and event space and has since been expanded with new attractions and retail precincts.
Situated in the Downtown Dubai district immediately adjacent to the Burj Khalifa and the artificial lake that hosts the Dubai Fountain, the mall is a focal point of Dubai’s central tourism and business area.

How to Get to Dubai Mall #
The Dubai Metro Red Line stops at Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station; use the covered pedestrian link bridge to reach the mall. Taxis and ride-hailing drop off at several designated entrances (Fashion Avenue, Dubai Fountain). From Dubai International Airport (DXB) it’s about 15-20 minutes by taxi depending on traffic.
Tips for Visiting Dubai Mall #
- Use the Dubai Metro (Red Line) to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station then walk via the air-conditioned metro link bridge to the mall.
- Visit on weekdays early morning to avoid mall and tourist-attraction crowds; evenings light up for the Dubai Fountain show.
- Take the lower-level pedestrian entrance from the Dubai Fountain if coming to see the fountain shows-it's less crowded than the main Fashion Avenue entrance.

Best visited in winter (Nov-Mar) for comfortable outdoor conditions; for fewer crowds, go on weekday mornings.
