Dorob National Park is a coastal national park in Namibia’s Erongo Region that protects a broad section of the central Namib along the Atlantic seaboard.

The park includes sandy beaches, rocky shores, tidal flats and adjoining dune fields and protects coastal desert ecosystems and birdlife. It is routinely used for scenic drives, wildlife viewing and to conserve habitats adjacent to human settlements and industrial areas.

Dorob was proclaimed to provide a managed protection zone for Namibia’s central coast and to coordinate conservation alongside permitted economic activities such as fishing and limited tourism.

The park stretches along the Atlantic coast in the Erongo Region, encompassing areas north and south of the coastal towns of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay and accessed from those towns.

  • Access and services: The park protects a large stretch of Namibia's central coastline and is accessed from the coastal towns of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay; expect long distances between facilities and limited services inside the park.
  • Visitor restrictions: Vehicle access is allowed in designated areas but visitors should respect protected zones and restrictions related to mining and conservation activities in parts of the park.
