Donuzlav
Lake Large Crimean lagoon and naval bay on Black Sea
A long inlet on Crimea’s southwest coast, featuring sandy spits, sheltered waters and small resort settlements; people come for boating, fishing and quiet beaches along the Donuzlav shoreline.
Donuzlav is a large lagoon-like inlet on the western coast of the Crimean Peninsula that connects to the Black Sea. It forms a broad body of brackish water separated from open sea by spits and coastal barriers.
The inlet has supported maritime and naval activity because its sheltered waters have historically been used as an anchorage and as access for small ports and harbours. In recent history it featured in naval movements and operations connected to the region.
Geographically Donuzlav lies on Crimea’s western shore and is set within a low-lying coastal landscape of spits, bays and small settlements. It is part of the coastal system of the Black Sea in that sector of the peninsula.
Tips for Visiting Donuzlav #
- Confirm current access and safety conditions before planning a visit-Donuzlav sits in a geopolitically sensitive region and regulations, checkpoints, or restricted military zones can affect where visitors may go.
- For sightseeing, use established coastal roads and look for official viewpoints around the inlet rather than attempting to approach naval or port facilities; local tourist offices in nearby towns can point to permitted vantage points and historical sites to visit.
