Donaupark is a large public park in Vienna’s Donaustadt district and includes the Donauturm (Danube Tower), a prominent city landmark. The area serves as a recreational green space near the Danube.

Donaupark and the Donauturm date from mid-20th century urban development around the Danube, created to provide recreational space for Vienna’s northeastern districts and to capitalise on riverside vistas.

Located in the Donaustadt (22nd) district in northeast Vienna, the park sits beside the New Danube channel and is accessible from the city by public transport and local roads.

How to Get to Donaupark #

Take Vienna U-Bahn U1 (or U2) to Kaisermühlen-VIC; the park is a 10-15 minute walk northwest from the station along the Danube canals. By car use the A22 or B14 (Donauufer) and follow signs for Donauturm/Donaupark. Several tram and bus lines also stop within a short walk.

Arrive at dawn or late afternoon to avoid the midday crowd and to see the Donauturm's shadow crawl across the lawns.
Walk from U1/U2 station Kaisermühlen-VIC - it's about a 10-15 minute stroll and more pleasant than the bus.
Bring binoculars for birdwatching around the park's water features; herons and kingfishers are frequently spotted.
If visiting the Donauturm (Danube Tower), buy the combo ticket at the tower rather than through third-party sellers to avoid markup.
