Doha Corniche

Doha Corniche is a waterfront promenade that runs along Doha Bay in the city of Doha, Qatar, providing a continuous public seafront of roughly 7 kilometres. It presents open-air views across the bay to the West Bay skyline and connects several civic and cultural sites.

The Corniche offers paved promenade space for walking and cycling, landscaped lawns, and small docks for dhow and harbour cruises, with clear views of modern high-rises and the Museum of Islamic Art at one end. It is widely used for casual recreation, photography and city vistas.

The Corniche was developed as part of Doha’s coastal urban growth in the late 20th and early 21st centuries to provide a formal waterfront and public open space as the city expanded.

The promenade runs along the southern shore of Doha Bay on the Persian Gulf and fronts central Doha, linking the downtown business district to cultural sites and parks along the water.

• Length: The waterfront promenade extends along Doha Bay for about 7 kilometres and provides continuous pedestrian access between the downtown and museum precincts.
• Best time: Sunset and early morning are popular times for skyline photography and walking, when temperatures are cooler and the light is best.

What to See #

• Museum of Islamic Art: A modern cultural landmark on the Corniche waterfront, located at the southern end of the promenade and offering a museum building and esplanade on its own island site.
• Corniche Park: Linear public green space along the promenade with walking and cycling routes, lawns and seating that run beside the bay.
• Dhow harbour: Traditional wooden dhows and small passenger boats operate from small docks along the Corniche, offering short harbour cruises and skyline views from the water.
