Doddabetta is the highest peak in the Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu, India, rising to 2,637 metres. The summit is a well-known vantage point for panoramic views over the Western Ghats and the surrounding Nilgiri plateau.
The main attraction at the peak is a telescopic viewing house and lookout terrace used to scan the surrounding landscape on clear days. The area is popular for short hikes and day trips from nearby hill stations.
The hill is a natural feature of the Nilgiri range and has long been a local landmark and recreational destination; modest tourism infrastructure developed in the 20th century to serve visitors.
Doddabetta sits a few kilometres from the town of Ooty (Udhagamandalam) in the Nilgiris district and is reached by the regional road network that serves the hill station.
