Detroit Lake is a reservoir on the North Santiam River in the Cascade Range of northwestern Oregon, United States. The lake was formed by the construction of Detroit Dam, which was completed in the mid 20th century.

The reservoir is managed for flood control, hydroelectric power and recreation, and is a popular regional destination for boating, fishing and camping. Facilities include boat ramps and campgrounds in the Detroit Lake State Recreation Area.

The dam and reservoir were built and are managed as part of a multiuse river program; since completion the lake has been an important component of local water management and outdoor recreation.

The lake sits adjacent to the small town of Detroit in Marion County, within the western Cascades and is accessible by road from nearby communities.

  • Variable lake levels: Lake levels vary seasonally due to flood control and water management, so mariners and campers should check current conditions before planning boating activities.
  • Recreation season: The reservoir is widely used for summer recreation including boating, water skiing and angling; winter and shoulder seasons are quieter and can see lower water levels.
