Designmuseum Denmark

Designmuseum Denmark is Copenhagen’s national museum for industrial and applied design, located in the city’s central district. The institution collects, researches and exhibits furniture, lighting, ceramics, textiles and graphic design from Denmark and abroad.

Permanent displays present key pieces of 20th-century Danish furniture and lighting design alongside international examples, illustrating materials, manufacturing and form. Temporary galleries host rotating exhibitions on contemporary design topics and applied arts.

The museum was established to preserve and present Denmark’s design heritage and has developed its collection and exhibition programme over decades to reflect both historical and contemporary practice. The building and galleries have been adapted to present objects in clearly arranged displays.

The museum sits in central Copenhagen in the Frederiksstaden/Bredgade area, within easy walking distance of other cultural institutions and central transport links.
