How to Get to Deshaies
Deshaies on Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe, is reached by flying into Pointe-à-Pitre and then traveling by car or taxi across the island. There is no rail service; road transport is the only practical way to access and get around Deshaies.
Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport (PTP): The main international airport for Guadeloupe. From PTP you can reach Deshaies by rental car or taxi - driving time is roughly 1.5-2 hours depending on traffic; expect taxi fares to be relatively high for a long transfer (agree the fare in advance).
Les Abymes / Smaller airports: There are no other major international airports serving Deshaies directly; domestic connections and charter flights may operate seasonally. Renting a car at Pointe-à-Pitre is the most flexible way to reach Deshaies and explore Basse-Terre.
Train: There are no train services on Guadeloupe - public transport is by road only.
