Dent de Crolles

Dent de Crolles is a limestone massif in the French Prealps (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) notable for its sharp summit ridge and karst features, rising to about 2,062 m. The peak is a known destination for climbers, scramblers and cavers.

The area offers short to long routes for rock climbing and via ferrata-style approaches, and the cave network beneath the massif has been explored since the early 20th century, attracting speleologists. The summit ridge provides broad views over the Chartreuse range and the valleys toward Grenoble.

The massif is a product of karstic limestone erosion and long-term subterranean drainage that produced an extensive cave system. Caving expeditions and climbing parties have mapped and developed routes through the 20th century.

Dent de Crolles lies in Isère within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France, forming part of the northern edge of the Chartreuse/Prealps limestone zone north of Grenoble.
