Dekabristov Island

Dekabristov Island is an island in the Neva River delta within Saint Petersburg, Russia, and is one of the city’s many river islands. It is an urban island primarily integrated into the city fabric rather than a standalone tourist attraction.

The island contains mainly residential and light-industrial areas with embankments, streets and local parks rather than large visitor attractions. There are several road bridges linking it to neighbouring parts of the city and local riverfront promenades used by residents.

The island’s name references the Decembrists. Over time the area has been developed as part of Saint Petersburg’s urban expansion and now forms a contiguous part of the city’s northern districts.

Dekabristov Island sits in the Neva delta inside the administrative area of Saint Petersburg; it is part of the city’s island network and lies within easy urban distance of the central districts of the city.
