How to Get to Dededo Village#
Dededo is the largest village on Guam; most visitors arrive via A.B. Won Pat International Airport (GUM) in Tamuning. From the airport the simplest options are taxi or rental car - a short drive north brings you into Dededo.
A.B. Won Pat International Airport (GUM): Guam’s main airport is in Tamuning, about 10-15 km south of Dededo. From the airport you can take a taxi to central Dededo - typical fares are around USD 25-40 and the drive takes roughly 15-25 minutes depending on traffic.
Other options: Rental cars are widely available at GUM (daily rates commonly start around USD 40-60 depending on season). Many hotels in the Dededo area also offer private shuttle transfers; confirm prices with your hotel prior to arrival.
Train: There is no passenger rail service on Guam.
Bus: The Guam Regional Transit Authority (GRTA) runs local bus routes linking Dededo with Hagatna, Tamuning and other population centres. Expect journey times from the airport into Dededo of roughly 30-50 minutes depending on route and stops; fares are low (cash fares are modest - check GRTA for current single-ride pricing). Local taxis and shuttles fill service gaps outside bus hours.
How to Get Around Dededo Village#
Getting around Dededo is easiest by car or taxi; public buses provide a budget option but run to a schedule and are slower. If you plan to explore Guam beyond Dededo (beaches, historical sites), rent a car or arrange transfers.
- Taxi (USD 25-40) - Taxis are the fastest door-to-door option on Guam and convenient for reaching Dededo from the airport or around the island. Expect a straightforward fixed-price or metered fare from GUM to Dededo and allow 15-30 minutes depending on traffic and pickup location.
- Rental car (USD 40+/day) - Renting a car is the most practical way to explore Guam at your own pace - shops, beaches and sights around Dededo are spread out. Major international and local agencies operate at the airport; book in advance during high season to secure the best rates.
- GRTA bus (Low (check GRTA)) - Guam Regional Transit Authority operates scheduled routes connecting Dededo with Tamuning and Hagatna. Buses are the cheapest option but are slower due to multiple stops; services are suitable for daytime travel but check timetables for limited evening frequencies.
- Hotel shuttle / private transfer (Varies) - Many hotels and tour operators offer private transfers from the airport to Dededo. These are pricier than taxis but convenient if you have lots of luggage or arrive late; confirm pricing when booking.
- Walking - Dededo has walkable neighbourhood pockets (shops and community facilities), but distances between main attractions and beaches mean walking is limited as a primary mode for visitors. Use walking for short local errands and exploring community areas.
