Dascylium Archaeological Site

Dascylium (also Daskylion) is an ancient city site in northwestern Anatolia, located in what is now Balıkesir Province, Turkey. In antiquity it served as an important local center and was associated with the satrapal administration of Hellespontine Phrygia under the Achaemenid Persian Empire.

Archaeological and historical records link the site to Achaemenid-period governance and to later Hellenistic and Roman era occupation, reflecting its strategic inland location near the Sea of Marmara and the Hellespont region.
