Dalverzin Tepe

Dalverzin Tepe is an archaeological site in Surxondaryo Region of southern Uzbekistan notable for its occupation in antiquity, including strong evidence for urban settlement during the Kushan period. The site contains remains of buildings, wall paintings and assemblages of coins and small finds.

Soviet-era excavations in the 20th century exposed settlement layers, public and domestic structures and sculptural and painted material that illustrate local material culture and connections across Central Asia. Many finds have been important for understanding Kushan-period art and urbanism in the region.

The site records occupation phases that extend before and after the Kushan era, showing long-term habitation and changing cultural influences. Dalverzin Tepe lies within the broader archaeological landscape of southern Uzbekistan, where riverine and oasis settlements supported ancient economies.

Geographically the site is inland in Surxondaryo Region, set within the plains and steppe of southern Uzbekistan rather than on major mountain belts.
