Dajti National Park

Dajti National Park protects Mount Dajti and surrounding forested slopes immediately east of Tirana, Albania, with the mountain peak rising to about 1,613 meters above sea level. The park is a popular nearby natural escape for residents and visitors to Tirana.

Trails of varying difficulty run through beech and oak woodlands and lead to viewpoints that overlook Tirana and, on clear days, distant coastal plains and the Adriatic. A cable car provides direct access from the city outskirts to the park plateau, shortening what would otherwise be a steep climb.

The area was set aside to conserve the mountain’s forests and recreational landscape and has been developed with marked trails, picnic areas and visitor facilities while retaining much of its natural character.

Dajti sits immediately east of Tirana city; the park’s lower station is on Tirana’s eastern outskirts and the summit lies roughly 10 kilometers from the city center by road.

• Access: The cable car departs from the park station near the outskirts of Tirana and provides the quickest public access to the higher plateau and summit viewpoints.
• Weather tip: Weather on the mountain is typically cooler than in Tirana; bring layered clothing and check conditions before hiking.
