About Daimabad#

Daimabad is an archaeological site in the Indian state of Maharashtra identified with Chalcolithic and Bronze Age occupation and notable for recovered metal objects. The site has produced pottery, settlement remains and a significant assemblage of copper and bronze artefacts.

Excavations in the mid-20th century uncovered settlement layers, artefacts and a metal hoard that have informed understanding of prehistoric metalworking and regional connections during the late Chalcolithic and early Bronze Age periods. The finds include terracotta and metal objects indicative of complex material culture.

Archaeological work at Daimabad was carried out in the 1950s, and subsequent study has placed the site among important prehistoric settlements on the Deccan plateau. The site is used by researchers studying trade, metallurgy and settlement organization in ancient western India.
