D’Aguilar National Park protects large tracts of the D’Aguilar Range in southeast Queensland, preserving both eucalypt forest and pockets of subtropical rainforest. It is a major green space on the outskirts of the Brisbane metropolitan area.
A network of walking tracks, lookouts and picnic areas provides opportunities for short walks and multi-day bushwalking; many trails pass through tall eucalypt forest, creeklines and patches of rainforest. Small mountain villages and roadside picnic reserves on the park margin act as common entry points and support day visitors.
The area was progressively protected through state park and reserve designations to conserve water catchments, native forest and wildlife while allowing recreation. Management has focused on fire management, walking-track maintenance and protecting remnant rainforest.
