Daebudo

Daebudo is an island and coastal locality in Gyeonggi Province administered by the city of Ansan, South Korea. It lies off the west coast of the Korean peninsula and is linked to the mainland by bridges and causeways.

The island is valued for its shoreline, mudflats and small fishing communities rather than large tourist infrastructure. Visitors come for local seafood, low-tide walking on the flats and short coastal trails that offer views across the sea to neighbouring islands.

Historically it has been a fishing and farming community integrated into Ansan’s coastal economy; over recent decades better road links have increased visitors and weekend residences. Traditional village layouts and small harbor facilities remain the island’s defining features.

Daebudo sits on the Yellow Sea coast of Gyeonggi Province, southwest of central Seoul and within commuting distance of the Incheon metropolitan area. The island’s shoreline and flat hinterland form its principal landscape.
