Cuyamaca Rancho State Park is a large state park in San Diego County, California that protects mountain, forest, and chaparral ecosystems including Cuyamaca Peak and Lake Cuyamaca. The park covers roughly 24,000 to 25,000 acres and is a major outdoor recreation area east of San Diego.

Recreation opportunities include more than 100 miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking, plus campgrounds and day-use areas. Key features are the peak summit, which reaches 6,512 feet in elevation, and Lake Cuyamaca, a small reservoir used for fishing and boating.

The area includes longstanding cultural use by the region’s Native peoples and later ranching and recreation; it was set aside to conserve the watershed, native habitats, and recreational values. The park suffered extensive vegetation loss in the 2003 Cedar Fire and has undergone habitat recovery and infrastructure restoration since.

The park lies in the Cuyamaca Mountains east of the city of San Diego, with access from mountain roads near the small town of Julian and other local gateways.
