Cutty Sark is a 19th-century British clipper ship built in 1869 and preserved as a museum ship in Greenwich, London. It was constructed for fast cargo trade and is one of the few surviving composite-hull clippers from that era.
The ship’s length and sail plan reflected its role in the tea and wool trades, and it gained fame for its speed during long voyages in the late 19th century. Today the vessel is mounted in a dry dock with visitor access to decks and exhibits explaining its construction, voyages and technology.
Cutty Sark suffered major fire damage in 2007 and underwent a significant conservation and restoration programme before reopening to the public; it is now managed as a museum attraction with displays about maritime trade and shipbuilding.
