Cueva de los Verdes is a volcanic lava tube and show cave on the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. It is a man-accessible section of a much larger subterranean tunnel formed by past volcanic eruptions.
Visitors walk a prepared, guided route through basalt passages, vaulted chambers and volcanic formations over an accessible distance of the tube. One notable interior space has been fitted as an auditorium used for musical and cultural events because of the cave’s natural acoustics.
The tube formed when fluid lava drained from a surface flow and left an underground tunnel; subsequent cooling and collapse created the caverns and passages visible today. The cave has been adapted for tourism with lighting, walkways and guided interpretation.
The cave system lies on northern Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands, in the volcanic terrain north of the island’s central ridge. It is reached from nearby coastal towns and is one of Lanzarote’s principal geological attractions.

How to Get to Cueva de los Verdes #
Cueva de los Verdes is on the north coast of Lanzarote in the municipality of Haría. From Arrecife (the island’s main town and airport), drive or take a taxi northwest on the LZ-1/LZ-10 for about 30-40 minutes (roughly 30-35 km). There is on-site parking; organized tours and island bus services often include stops at Cueva de los Verdes and nearby Jameos del Agua.

- Join one of the timed guided tours - the cavern is only accessible with a guide and tours sell out on summer weekends.
- Wear a light jacket: interior temperatures are cool (around 18°C) and the walkways can be damp.
