Beach World's longest natural sea beach in Bangladesh
Known for an uninterrupted stretch of sandy shoreline in southeastern Bangladesh, Cox’s Bazar draws beachgoers for long walks, fishing boats, seafood markets and access to nearby seaside parks and viewpoints.
Cox’s Bazar Beach is a long natural sandy beach on the Bay of Bengal in southeastern Bangladesh, located in Cox’s Bazar District. It is widely cited as being about 120 km long and is known for an unbroken sweep of sand along the coast.
The beach offers extensive shallow sand and wide tidal flats along most of its length, with a central tourist corridor around the town where hotels, shops and lifeguard-patrolled sections are concentrated. Outlying stretches include rocky and coral-stone sections at Inani and the cliff and waterfall area at Himchari, giving a mix of open beach and nearby natural attractions.
The area developed from a historic fishing and trading settlement into a major domestic and international tourism destination in the 20th and 21st centuries, with growing resort infrastructure and transport links. Tourism facilities include beachfront promenades, boat excursions and local seafood markets.
Geographically it sits on Bangladesh’s southeastern coast in Cox’s Bazar District, adjacent to the town of Cox’s Bazar. The city of Chattogram (Chittagong) lies to the northwest, roughly 150 km by road, and the beach faces the Bay of Bengal.
