How to Get to Costa Calma#
Costa Calma is on the southern shore of Fuerteventura; most visitors arrive via Fuerteventura Airport (FUE) or by ferry to other Canary Islands and then transfer by road. Ground transfers are the main option - intercity buses serve the popular resorts and taxis/private transfers are convenient for direct door-to-door travel.
Fuerteventura Airport (FUE): The island airport at Fuerteventura is the main gateway. Taxis to Costa Calma take about 50-70 minutes and typically cost €50-€80 depending on time and luggage. There is also an interurban bus run (operated by Tiadhe) from the airport/ Puerto del Rosario toward Morro Jable that stops in Costa Calma; expect a journey of roughly 70-90 minutes and fares around €5-€8.
Train: There is no rail link on Fuerteventura.
Bus: Interurban buses (Tiadhe) connect Puerto del Rosario and other island towns with Costa Calma/Morro Jable. Buses depart from the Puerto del Rosario bus station; journey time from Puerto del Rosario is about 70-90 minutes and fares are typically €5-€8. Local airport-to-resort shuttle services and private transfers are also widely available (higher cost).
How to Get Around Costa Calma#
Costa Calma is best navigated by car or interurban bus. If you want convenience and luggage-free transfers, take a taxi or pre-booked shuttle; budget travellers should use Tiadhe buses. Within the resort, walking and short taxi hops work well.
- Car / Taxi (€50-€80) - Taxis and private transfers are the fastest, door-to-door option between FUE and Costa Calma. Expect a 50-70 minute drive depending on traffic and where in Costa Calma you’re staying; airport taxis commonly charge in the €50-€80 range. Book a private transfer in advance during high season to avoid queues.
- Interurban bus (Tiadhe) (€5-€8) - Tiadhe runs regular intercity buses on Fuerteventura connecting Puerto del Rosario, the airport area and the southern resorts (including Costa Calma/Morro Jable). Buses are cheap and reliable for budget travellers; the trip from Puerto del Rosario takes about 70-90 minutes. Services can be less frequent in the evening, so check timetables in advance.
- Car hire (€25-€60/day) - Hiring a car gives maximum flexibility to explore southern beaches and inland sights. Rental prices vary by season but expect ~€25-€60/day for a small car. Roads are generally in good condition and parking in resort areas is usually available though limited at peak times.
- Airport shuttle / private transfer (€40-€70) - Many companies and hotels sell direct airport shuttles or private transfers to resorts; these are pricier than the public bus but drop you at your accommodation. Travel time is similar to a taxi (about 50-70 minutes). Pre-booking can save money and guarantee a driver on late flights.
- Local buses & taxis (€2-€10) - Local taxis (metered or fixed-price) serve short hops inside the resort and to neighbouring beaches. Expect short trips to be inexpensive (single-digit euro amounts). Buses within resort areas are limited; walking between nearby beaches and facilities is often easiest.
- Walking - Costa Calma is a compact resort; many hotels, beaches and restaurants are within easy walking distance of each other. Walking is the best way to move short distances along the seafront and between nearby shops and cafes.
