How to Get to Comitán
Comitán de Domínguez is most easily reached by road from Tuxtla Gutiérrez (TGZ) or San Cristóbal. Fly into TGZ then take an intercity bus, taxi or rental car for the 1.5-2 hour drive to Comitán; there is no regular passenger rail service to the town.
Tuxtla Gutiérrez - Ángel Albino Corzo International Airport (TGZ): The primary airport for Chiapas and the main air gateway to Comitán. From TGZ you can travel by shuttle or taxi to Comitán - road travel time is roughly 1.5-2 hours depending on traffic and route; taxis and rental cars are available at the airport.
Palenque / Villahermosa: Palenque (PQM) and Villahermosa (VSA) have airports for other access options, but TGZ is the most convenient for Comitán and the highlands of Chiapas.
Train: Mexico’s passenger rail network in this region is limited; there is no regular passenger train service to Comitán.
Bus: Long‑distance bus companies (ADO and regional operators) run frequent services to Comitán from Tuxtla Gutiérrez, San Cristóbal de las Casas and other regional hubs. Fares from Tuxtla or San Cristóbal are typically modest (a few hundred MXN) and journey times from Tuxtla are around 1.5-2 hours; ADO and other carriers provide online timetables for exact departures.
