About Cologne Zoological Garden#
Cologne Zoological Garden (Kölner Zoo) is a major zoological park in Cologne, Germany, founded in 1860. It is one of the older and larger German zoos and combines outdoor enclosures with indoor display buildings.
Guests encounter a broad range of animals across hundreds of species and thousands of individual animals, with both indoor and outdoor exhibits and an on-site aquarium. The adjacent Flora botanical garden is commonly visited together with the zoo.
Opened in 1860, the park expanded through the 19th and 20th centuries with additions such as the aquarium and modernized enclosures; the zoo was rebuilt and updated following wartime damage.
