Colbún Lake is an artificial reservoir in Chiles Maule Region created for hydroelectricity and water storage. It serves both utility and recreational functions in the region.

The reservoir was created by constructing a dam and associated infrastructure to regulate river flows and produce hydroelectric power; it has since become an established local recreational resource. Management focuses on water resource and power generation while permitting recreation.

How to Get to Colbún Lake
Colbún Lake is about 100 km south of Santiago by road (roughly 1.5-2 hours depending on traffic) and 30-40 km from the regional city of Talca. Approaches are via Ruta 5 (Pan-American Highway) and then regional roads toward the village of Colbún. Private car is the most practical option; regional buses run to nearby towns with onward taxi connections.
