Codru Reserve is a protected forest reserve in central Moldova established to conserve native broadleaf woodland and regional biodiversity. It represents one of the countrys important areas of natural forest.

The reserve offers forested trails and stands of mature trees that support a range of plant and animal species; visits are typically for nature study, birdwatching and educational research. Facilities are oriented toward low-impact, conservation-focused use.

Designated to protect native forest habitats, the reserve has been managed for conservation and scientific study to maintain representative woodland ecosystems. It forms part of Moldovas network of protected areas.

Located in central Moldova, the reserve lies within the countrys interior landscape of rolling hills and agricultural land and is accessed from nearby towns and conservation administration centres.

How to Get to Codru Reserve #

Codru Reserve is reached via roads from Chișinău; the nearest towns are Hîncești and Strășeni. Regional buses run part-way to these towns; from there local taxis or arranged transfers are needed. Driving time from Chișinău is approximately 30-60 minutes depending on which reserve entrance is used.
