Ciudad Madero is part of the Tampico metropolitan area and is most conveniently reached via Tampico's airport with taxis or local buses for the short onward trip. Intercity buses connect the metro area to the rest of northeast Mexico.
Tampico International Airport (TAM): The closest major airport for Ciudad Madero is General Francisco Javier Mina International Airport (TAM) in Tampico. From Tampico airport you can take a taxi or local shuttle to Ciudad Madero (drive time ~20-30 minutes depending on traffic). Taxi fares from the airport into Ciudad Madero are typically MXN 200-500.
Ciudad Victoria (CVM) / Monterrey (MTY): For some itineraries travellers use larger airports (Monterrey, Victoria) and continue by long-distance bus or rental car; road journeys from those airports are several hours.
