City of Manchester Stadium

City of Manchester Stadium, commercially known as the Etihad Stadium, is a large multi-purpose stadium in east Manchester that serves as the home ground of Manchester City Football Club. It was constructed for the 2002 Commonwealth Games and adapted for long-term football use.

The stadium complex includes the playing bowl and stands, hospitality suites, club shop and public plaza known as City Square; it also sits within the wider Etihad Campus of training and community sports facilities. Matchday tours and museum displays about the club are typically available for visitors.

Originally built as an athletics venue for the 2002 Games, the facility was redeveloped for football and opened as a club stadium in 2003; it has since been expanded and modernised for Premier League competition. It now operates as one of the larger football stadiums in England.

Located in the Beswick area of east Manchester, the stadium is well served by public transport including tram (Metrolink) stops and local bus routes, and sits near other sports facilities from the Commonwealth Games legacy.
