Built and used by Norse settlers during the medieval period, the well-preserved stone walls are a visible remnant of Greenland’s Norse settlements; the site is notable for the 1408 written record of a marriage, the last known contemporary Norse written reference from Greenland.
The ruin lies on the shore near the modern town of Qaqortoq and is reached from local harbours and coastal paths.
