Chřiby

Chřiby is a compact group of low, wooded hills in central Moravia within the Zlín Region of the Czech Republic, notable for its network of trails and several medieval fortifications. The area is a regional natural and recreational landscape that sits between cultivated lowlands and higher uplands.

A dense network of marked walking and cycling routes links hilltop clearings, lookout points and historic sites. Key on-site attractions include a hilltop castle complex and nearby manor house as well as scattered medieval ruins and viewpoints. The terrain and trail distances are suitable for day hikes and short multi-stop routes rather than long alpine trekking.

The hills contain medieval-era fortifications and watchpoints that controlled local routes through the region; many surviving structures are preserved as ruins or restored historic buildings. Over time the area evolved from strategic medieval high ground to a recreational and protected landscape with conservation and heritage management.

The Chřiby hills lie within the Zlín Region of the Czech Republic, adjacent to small towns and villages that provide access and services for visitors. The main historic sites are approached on short rural roads and trailheads set within a predominantly forested landscape.

• Castle ruins and lookout clearings: Ruined fortifications and hilltop clearings that mark former medieval watchpoints and small strongholds scattered through the wooded hills.
