Chitgar Park

Chitgar Park is a large urban forest and recreational park in the western part of Tehran province, developed as a multiuse green space for the metropolitan area. It includes planted woodland, walking and cycling paths and an artificial lake area used for leisure activities.

Facilities include long paved cycling routes, picnic areas and waterfront promenades around the man-made lake that attract family outings and sports activities. The park functions as a major green lung for western Tehran and is heavily used at weekends and during holidays.

Developed in recent decades as part of Tehran’s urban expansion and green-space planning, the park and its lake were created to provide recreation and to help manage local microclimate and leisure demand. Planting and infrastructure have been added progressively to expand usable public space.

Geographically the park sits on the western outskirts of Tehran, near major road corridors that link the city with suburban areas and the Karaj direction; the terrain is flat to gently rolling and the park is a prominent municipal green area.
