How to Get to Chimanimani
Chimanimani is a remote, mountainous town best reached by road from Zimbabwe's larger transport hubs. The nearest airports are Harare International Airport (HRE) for international connections and the smaller Mutare airfield for regional flights; onward travel is by bus, kombi or private transfer.
Harare International Airport (HRE): Harare is the main international gateway for eastern Zimbabwe. From Harare to Chimanimani you can hire a private transfer or shared minibus to Mutare and then a local taxi the rest of the way; shared minibus fares Harare→Mutare are typically around USD 5-10 and the road journey takes about 4-5 hours, then Mutare→Chimanimani is a further 1.5-2 hours by minibus or taxi (prices vary).
Mutare Airport (MUT): Mutare is the closest regional airfield for Chimanimani (limited commercial service). From Mutare town, regular kombi/minibus services run to Chimanimani (approx. 1.5-2 hours); expect small local fares (a few USD) and taxis are available for faster door-to-door transfers.
Train: There is no direct long-distance passenger rail service to Chimanimani. The nearest working passenger rail services in Zimbabwe link Harare and Mutare on limited timetables; trains are infrequent and slow, so most visitors use road transport.
Bus: Intercity buses and shared minibuses (kombis) run from Harare and Mutare to Chimanimani area. From Harare the road trip via Mutare takes around 5-7 hours (including transfers) and minibus fares Harare→Mutare are commonly USD 5-10; local Mutare→Chimanimani kombis cost a few USD more and take about 1.5-2 hours.

Chimanimani village is compact and easy to explore on foot; trails and attractions around the national park are reached on foot or by short drives. Local transport is informal - shared minibuses and private taxis connect Chimanimani with Mutare and nearby villages.
