Cheshmeh-Ali is a historic spring and small archaeological-park site located in the older district of Rey on the southern outskirts of Tehran province.
The site combines a natural spring, an ornamental pool area and archaeological remains and has been a local focal point for settlement and ritual use for many centuries. It contains rock-cut features and traces of occupation from pre-Islamic and later periods that attract both local visitors and researchers.
The spring and pool were developed and used historically as part of the larger settlement of Rey and its associated waterworks and leisure areas. The location has been visited for its antiquities as well as for the spring itself.
Cheshmeh-Ali sits in the historic city of Rey (Shahr-e Rey), on the southern edge of the modern Tehran metropolitan area, and is accessible from Tehran by road.
