Château de Montsoreau

Château de Montsoreau is a 15th-century château located in the village of Montsoreau in the Loire Valley, in the Pays de la Loire region of western France. It was constructed at the point where the Vienne flows into the Loire and is directly on the riverbank, an uncommon placement among Loire châteaux.

Architecturally it blends late medieval defensive elements with early Renaissance domestic features and presents a prominent river-facing façade and keep. Since the 21st century parts of the château have been adapted to house a contemporary art museum, combining historic fabric with exhibition spaces for modern works.
