Château de Montgeoffroy Castle

The Château de Montgeoffroy is an 18th-century château in the Maine-et-Loire department of Pays de la Loire, noted for having preserved its plan and many original interiors. It is frequently cited as a well-preserved example of pre-Revolutionary provincial architecture.

A formal 18th-century house with symmetrical layout, period interiors and surrounding parkland that illustrate the organization of an aristocratic estate of the period. The château’s rooms, staircases and decorative finishes survive in a notably complete state compared with many contemporaries.

Built in the late 18th century for a member of the provincial nobility, the château maintained its structure and interior fittings through the French Revolution and subsequent centuries, allowing a high degree of preservation.
