Chapultepec

Chapultepec is a large urban park complex in Mexico City that contains museums, gardens, monuments and a historic hill crowned by Chapultepec Castle. It functions as the city’s principal green space and cultural precinct.

Major attractions include the hilltop Chapultepec Castle, the Museo Nacional de Antropología and several smaller museums and recreational areas; the park offers a mix of cultural institutions and outdoor activities. Paths and lakes provide routes for walking, boating and informal recreation.

The castle was used as an imperial residence in the 19th century and later repurposed as a history museum. The park’s green spaces and institutions have evolved through the colonial and modern periods into a city-wide cultural and leisure destination.

Chapultepec is located west of Mexico City’s historic centre along Paseo de la Reforma and is accessible by multiple metro and bus lines.
