Chanhudaro is an archaeological site of the Indus Valley (Harappan) civilization in Sindh province, Pakistan, occupied during the Mature Harappan period (roughly 2600-1900 BCE). It is a planned urban settlement associated with craft production rather than a large administrative centre.
Excavated areas reveal streets, houses and multiple workshops; notable finds include large numbers of finished and unfinished beads, terracotta objects and evidence for copper working. The site illustrates craft specialization and urban organization typical of the Mature Harappan phase.
Built and used by communities of the Indus cultural system, the settlement declined in the Late Harappan period as regional patterns changed. Archaeological work at the site has established its sequence and material culture within the broader Indus Valley tradition.
The site sits in Sindh province of southern Pakistan; it lies inland from the Indus floodplain and is part of the cluster of Harappan settlements in that region.
