How to Get to Céret
Céret is a small town in the Pyrénées-Orientales that's easiest reached via Perpignan airport or by regional rail from Perpignan. The town has a TER station and simple local bus links; arriving by train from Perpignan is typically the fastest, most predictable option.
Perpignan-Rivesaltes (PGF): The closest commercial airport to Céret is Perpignan-Rivesaltes. From Perpignan airport you can take a taxi to Céret (approx. 30-40 minutes) or travel to Perpignan city centre and catch a TER train to Céret. Taxi fares are typically in the region of €40-€60 (approx.) and the TER between Perpignan and Céret takes about 25-35 minutes (see card below for train details).
Barcelona-El Prat (BCN): Barcelona is a larger international option if schedules or fares work better. From Barcelona airport you can take a train or bus to Barcelona Sants and then direct trains or buses towards Perpignan; the rail+regional connections to Céret make the journey 2-3 hours depending on connections. Expect higher transfer time and costs compared with Perpignan (prices depend on chosen rail/bus legs).
Train: Céret is served by Gare de Céret on the TER Occitanie regional network (line between Perpignan and Cerbère). Trains from Perpignan to Céret take around 25-35 minutes; regional fares are low (a few euros) but vary by ticket type and season-buy at the station or via the SNCF/TER apps.
Bus: Local and regional buses connect Céret with nearby towns and Perpignan; schedules are less frequent than trains so check TER Occitanie or the local interurban bus timetables for up-to-date runs. Buses are useful for destinations not directly on the rail line.
How to Get Around Céret #
Céret is a compact town and very walkable; the centre and main sights are easy to cover on foot. Public transport is limited - regional buses link Céret with larger towns and services are infrequent, so a car is handy for exploring the surrounding countryside. Taxis exist but are scarce; expect local buses and taxis to be low-cost (a few euros). Bring some cash for small stores and check schedules outside high season.
