The Centre Pompidou-Metz is a contemporary and modern art museum in Metz that operates as an offshoot of the Centre Pompidou in Paris. It opened as a cultural venue to host large temporary exhibitions and contemporary-art displays in a purpose-built building.

The building is widely noted for its timber lattice roof and contemporary architectural design, which creates sweeping, column-free gallery volumes for large installations and rotating international exhibitions. The museum’s program emphasizes temporary shows drawn from the parent institution in Paris as well as independent curatorial projects.

The project was developed to extend and decentralize the Centre Pompidou’s exhibition program outside Paris, providing the region with expanded access to modern and contemporary art. Its architecture and exhibition program have made it a regional cultural anchor.

• By train: Take TGV or regional trains to Metz-Ville station (TGV from Paris Gare de l’Est takes about 1¼-1½ hours). From Gare de Metz-Ville it is a short walk to Centre Pompidou‑Metz-plan on roughly a 10-20 minute walk from the station to the Parvis des Droits de l’Homme where the museum sits.

• By car: Metz is served by the A4/E25 motorway; follow signs for Metz centre and parking near the museum. Public local buses/trams serve central Metz; check the local Stan network for the closest stop.

• Visit on a weekday late afternoon when guided groups thin out and you can enjoy the galleries and the building's timber lattice roof in softer light.
• Enter from the main forecourt on Place de la République to avoid the longer lines that form at special-exhibition ticket desks; check the museum's website for any timed-entry requirements before you go.
• Spend time looking up and around the building - many visitors concentrate on works but miss the dramatic roof geometry and the views from upper levels over Metz and the cathedral.
