How to Get to Catia La Mar
Catia La Mar sits on the coast right beside Maiquetía airport (CCS), making it one of the quickest coastal towns to reach from Caracas. Road connections - buses, colectivos and taxis along the coastal highway - are the main ways to get there.
Simón Bolívar International Airport / Maiquetía (CCS): Catia La Mar is adjacent to Maiquetía, so Caracas’s main international airport (CCS) is the closest gateway. Caracas national flights: Domestic flights to Caracas arrive at the same airport; once landed most visitors reach Catia La Mar quickly by taxi or public bus along the coastal highway (Autopista Caracas-La Guaira).
Train: Venezuela’s regional rail network does not provide a metro/regional rail link into Catia La Mar from Caracas; the main options are road-based. Efforts and plans for rail improvements have existed, but road travel remains the primary mode.
Bus: Public buses and colectivos run frequently along the Carayaca-La Guaira-Caracas corridor and stop in Catia La Mar. Bus fares are inexpensive (small bolívar amounts) and travel time from central Caracas is typically 20-60 minutes depending on traffic and origin point.
