Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, Port-au-Prince Church

The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption in Port-au-Prince was the Roman Catholic cathedral of Haiti’s capital and the seat of the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince. The building was heavily damaged and largely collapsed during the 12 January 2010 earthquake.

Before the earthquake it functioned as the principal Catholic church in the city, hosting major liturgies and community events. Since 2010 the site has remained largely ruined and access has been restricted while conversations about restoration and reconstruction continue.
