The mountain is a familiar landmark on routes through Banff National Park and is often viewed from the Trans-Canada Highway and nearby roadside pullouts. The peak has long been a named feature on maps of the Canadian Rockies. In the mid-20th century it was temporarily renamed for a U.S. president and was later returned to its traditional name, reflecting changes in naming decisions over time.
